A Little Rest for the Weary

So I feel like life has been moving at warp speed lately. We have had so much going on that it seems like we have had very little down time with just our little family of 4. We got that and more this weekend and it was WONDERFUL!!!

Friday night Jason and I got to take the kids to church as they had a "Parent's Night Out" and we got to go on a date!! We saw Baby Mama which was hilarious. The kids slept until 9:00 Saturday morning (yes, you read correctly 9:00) since we got home late!! We went to our favorite kolache shop for breakfast and then had a fun filled day which included, playing and walking at one of our favorite parks (Thomas Park), ice cream, a nap for mommy, and great time together as a family. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time being together!! Today was just a nice restful afternoon after church. I have the most wonderful family in the world.

Here is a sweet picture of the two sweet ones I caught playing so nicely together. I know this won't go on forever so I have to savor the moments!!

What a Weekend

We have been blessed to spend the weekend with our bestest of friends (The Stricklands, Moffitts & Baileys)!! Our sweet friends Joseph, Crista, and Luke Bailey came in from Abilene this weekend. Friday night we got babysitters for the kids and went out to dinner and dessert to celebrate Joe's upcoming 30th bday!! Since Dad was out of town this weekend, we got to enjoy a fun-filled day in the country at "the barn" on Saturday. The little boys played and loved being outside all day long having lots of room to run around with each other. There were lots of bubbles, wagon rides, balls-all things boys love. The "big boys" got some time to enjoy their big boy toys too. They headed out to explore and shoot their guns killing turtles and frogs in the tank. The girls and I just enjoyed sitting on the porch soaking in the beautiful day and talking. Davis was content to watch all the boys play and loved being held and loved on. Joe recently started his photography business and was kind enough to take some amazing pictures of Davis-Thanks Joe. We had so much fun this weekend we just didn't want it to end. It is so rare that 4 couples/8 people all get along and like everyone in the group. We are so richly blessed to have such wonderful friends to share life with.

Bluebonnet Festival

What a beautiful day it was today!! We headed to Chappell Hill for the Bluebonnet Festival with dad. Along the way we stopped to take pictures in the bluebonnets. The kids were great but b/c the weather was so pretty it was so bright and most of the pictures we took have "squinty" eyes. Here are a few of the good ones that we got along with a funny one of Davis after she had had enough of sitting on the ground. What a fun day to spend with my family!!

9 Months

Our sweet little Davis will be 9 months old tomorrow! It's hard to believe we are only 3 months away from her 1st birthday. I have found myself wanting to stop time as this stage she's in is so fun. As you can see from this picture she is pulling up and loves to stay in a standing position. She is a great eater and actually cries sometimes when mealtime is over. She is always interested in what Greyson is doing and for the most part he is really sweet with her and lets her play with him. She is still a fiesty one and loves to hear herself "talk"; I think girls are just louder all the way around :) She makes us all laugh and melts our hearts when she smiles at us. She is the sweetest girl and we love her so much!

This Time Last Year

This time last year Jason and I were blessed to go on a trip to the Northeast before Davis was born. It was a much needed vacation for both of us and we so enjoyed the alone time together. We flew into Boston and headed north to Camden Maine. We enjoyed stopping along the way in all the little waterfront towns, having lunch, shopping and enjoying Dunkin' Donuts!! We stayed at a wonderful Bed & Breakfast in Camden that we would highly recommend if you are ever heading that way. Our first morning there we woke up to 18in of snow on the ground-it was the biggest snow storm they had had all winter. Of course we thought it was great since we never get to enjoy snow! We stayed in Camden for several days taking day trips to the nearby towns and then headed back to Boston to take in the sights there. We only had a day in Boston so we packed in as much as we could. We enjoyed walking the Freedom Trail seeing a lot of the historical sights, shopping at Quincy Market and eating dinner at the oldest restaurant in Boston-The Oyster House (yummy Lobster)!! We were sad to leave and head back to the "real world" but our memories will never be forgotten! I was so thankful for this trip and the fun I had with my best friend and love of my life.

Fun Tip

My friend Charissa is great at giving "toddler tips" on her blog; she even did a month long "Daily Toddler Tips" last month. I'm not that good, but will share this fun one that I learned today...we are in the midst of finger/self feeding with Davis. Today I wanted to introduce Kiwi to her. I went to my trusty homemade baby food site that I love (I have a link for it to the right if you are interested). They had a great suggestion for slippery foods that baby is trying to self-feed with-roll them in your favorite crushed cereals or wheat germ for easier pick-up. I tried it and it worked great!! It does get a little messy and gooey, but isn't that what this stage is all about. Some of you may already know about this, but I didn't so I thought I'd share :)

Weekend in Fort Worth Continued...

The rest of our weekend in Fort Worth was a lot of fun. Saturday night we enjoyed a DELICIOUS dinner at Del Frisco's in downtown Fort Worth. One of our sweet friends Megan who lives in FTW came to the hotel and stayed with the kids so we could have a night out-THANKS MEGAN. Sunday morning we headed down to the Stockyards to check things out. Greyson got to sit on a longhorn and we watched the cattle drive that they do through the stockyards. We had a great time watching Greyson experience all these fun things and I think he really enjoyed it!! Davis was a trooper the whole weekend, but by the end she was tuckered out. We are pretty lucky to have 2 kids that travel so well and adjust well if their schedules are thrown off. Now we are back home and Jason and I are trying to recoup from the weekend :)
